What is Trader Games?
Trader Games offers competitions of skill between registered members, based on variations in the prices of financial instruments on the real world markets in real-time. Unlike the various Fantasy Games offered online, competitions on Trader Games are subject to payment of entry fees and cash prizes are paid out to the winners!
Players within a game compete against each other, deploying their trading skills to attempt to maximise their virtual profits. Virtual financial instruments are "bought" and "sold" in accordance with the participants' interpretations of price movements in the Trader Games Price Feed. As a result of their buying/selling activities, the participants will make a profit or loss on their virtual portfolio.
Players' options within a game may be restricted by one or more of a variety of constraints. These constraints are designed to reflect the nature of the underlying real- world market and may therefore vary from game type to game type. This is as real as it gets!
Instruments
On Trader Games you can play the markets you know or dabble in those that you're not so familiar with. Demonstrate your knowledge of the Foreign Exchange Markets or just take a bet on Sterling or the Euro against the Dollar! If you're more familiar with stocks and shares, you might like to try your hand at the Index Futures, which include all the major indices FTSE100, S&P etc.
Variants
Sometimes you'll have a view on where the markets will go in the next 10 minutes; sometimes you've got a longer view. Regardless of whether you're playing FX or Indices, you'll find the fast and furious Sprint Game or the more strategic Classic Game with durations of 30 minutes to a week or more. Whatever your appetite, we've got a game for you!
Joining
If you want to play immediately, you can queue for a Queue-and-Go game. These games start as soon as the Queue fills up, and you can decide how long you want to wait. If you prefer to plan ahead, take a look at our scheduled games - the schedule offers a wide range of games, catering for different risk/reward profiles. Finally you can create your own Private Game or get yourself invited to one that someone else has set up. All games feature in-game Chat, so you can gloat as you hammer your competitors!
How it works
Trader Games combines the realism of a trader's desktop, with simplicity and ease of use. Within the Watch tab you can see how your competitors are doing, or you can watch a game that you're not playing in yourself. Here you can see the Leaderboard - which updates in real-time - as well as some minimal information about the last trades made and collective exposures.
The Play tab contains the tools you need to trade and manage your positions - make trades, place Stop/Loss or Take Profit orders. All trades are based on the current values of the instrument you're trading, which of course are updated in real-time on the display.
The Game tabs include an in-game chat facility, so that you can engage with your fellow players. By clicking on a competitor's name, you can see their competitive history and examine the results of games that they might have won.
To help you get familiar with the "tools of the trade", you can join a Practice Game, based either on Forex or Index Futures. Obviously, you can also use this Game at any time to hone your trading skills.
Here's what you do
We've made it particularly easy for you to get familiar with the Trader Games Service. At any time you can take a look inside and get familiar with the layout and features of the service.
If you want to watch others playing or to get some practice in, you need to register as a member, providing a username and password so that the system can identify you.
Credit Card details only need to be supplied, when you're ready to join a real game. Once you've made a deposit - using our fully secure connection - you can join a game of your choice. Winnings will be paid into your Trader Games account and can be withdrawn at any time to your credit card, or used to join subsequent games.

All customer funds are held in ring-fenced accounts and are further secured by a US$ 10 million bond which has been placed with Allied Irish Banks plc. When you deposit money, your card details are fully encrypted, and are stored on fully secured servers within the Trader Games infrastructure.
Trader Games respects Members' rights to privacy in relation to interactions with the service. We undertake not to provide your personal details to any third party under any circumstances - with the exception of payment processing and where required by law.
